로버트 인디애나 1928년 미국 인디애나 주 뉴캐슬에서 출생하였습니다. 시카고 아트 인스티튜트(Chicago Art Institute)에서 회화와 그래픽을 전공한 후 1953년 장학금을 받고 에딘버러대학과 런던대학에서 수학하였습니다. 1954년부터 1978년까지 뉴욕에서 거주하면서 자신의 이름을 그의 고향인 인디애나주를 딴 로버트 인디애나로 바꿉니다. 본명은 로버트 클라크입니다. 로버트 인디애나는 생존하는 팝아트 작가중에 가장 대표적인 작가라고 할 수 있습니다. 팝아트는 1950년대 중후반 미국에서 일어났던 미술 사조로서 추상표현주의의 엄숙성에 반대하고 TV나 길거리 표지판, 광고 등 일상적이고 대중적인 시각이미지를 미술의 영역 속으로 적극적으로 수용하고자 했던 구상미술의 한 경향입니다. 당시 뉴욕은 미드타운에서 추상표.. 2010. 2. 24.
