Bahman Jalali (Iran, 1944), curator of Iran's first photography museum, single-handedly introduced photography to the country, making it acceptable as an art form and inspiring a generation of emerging Iranian photographers. This exhibition at the Fundació Antoni Tàpies showcases a series of Jalali's small format photomontages from photographic archives of Iran.
One of the most beautiful art spaces in Barcelona. Set in an early Modernista building (1880s), Tapies has done more than set up a gallery of self celebration: the foundation is devoted to international contemporary art. It provides, year-round, first class temporary exhibitions devoted to world figures such as Louise Bourgeois and movements such as Fluxus. Some of Tapies' own fascinating "Matter Paintings" - which resemble old city walls - are kept in the upper galleries.
