19C- 신고전주의

18세기 후반 폼페이와 헤르쿨라네움의 고고학 발굴은 신고전주의의 시작을 알렸다. 신고전주의는 예술부터 신화, 생활양식그리고 교육방식 까지 고대 그리스.로마의 문화를 받아들였으며, 이러한 고전문화의 부활은 예술영역에서 더욱 도드라졌다.
